Summary
Previous studies of weight loss maintenance have had limited effectiveness with weight regain common. This study will evaluate the impact of a 12-month multi-component intervention or less intensive version on weight loss maintenance in adults. 950 participants aged 18-70 (current/previous BMI 30+) who have lost at least 5% of their body weight will be recruited from a variety of community settings. Participants will be assessed at 6 months and followed up at the end of the intervention (one year from randomisation) and at 12 and 24 months after the intervention is complete. Outcomes include: BMI (primary outcome 2 years post-intervention); waist circumference; body fat; physical activity; diet; binge-eating; quality of life; psychological well-being and cost-effectiveness.
